I am very concerned that many people are going to expose themselves to identity theft and more evils simply by continuing to use their middle-aged computer running Windows XP after April 8th.

Windows XP was released by Microsoft in 2001.  On April 8th, Microsoft is stopping its support of that operating system.  This means that the regular patches to security holes will end.

Every XP computer that goes on the Internet after April 8th will be vulnerable to malicious programs.  You may not have to do anything stupid to expose your computer to hackers.  Just typoing a web address or visiting a site that itself has been infected can give bad guys control of your XP machine.

In the past other operating systems have fallen out of support.  But, never has an operating system with so many still-active computers been abandoned by its manufacturer.  The potential for unleashed evil is huge!
There's No Option!
In my opinion, if you are using an XP computer, you must upgrade its operating system to Windows 7 or Windows 8.  Or, you need to buy a new computer. Or, you need to disconnect your machine from the Internet.
If you have a Mac or a PC running Windows 7 or Windows 8, you're okay.

Just please make sure your friends, relatives, and coworkers are also off Windows XP.
